Keswick

Keswick is a beautiful market town situated on Derwentwater, one of the most picturesque lakes in the Lake District. With a population of just 5,000, Keswick is home of the first graphite pencil and, alongside tourism, still boasts a modest pencil industry.

Keswick caters well for visitors throughout the year; as well as being at the heart of the walking country in the Northern Lake District, it offers a good variety of pubs and restaurants, a number of museums and galleries, and a wide range of shops.

Keswick hosts a wide variety of festivals and events all through the year: two film festivals; an agricultural show; a jazz festival; fell running, half-marathons and triathlons; a beer festival; a Christmas Fayre; as well as a full programme of events at The Theatre by the Lake. It also hosts the world-renowned international Christian Convention each summer. For more information on individual events, visit www.keswick.org.

For more information on the town of Keswick and a wider range of activities in the Lake District as a whole, please visit www.keswick.org, which also contain a more detailed map of the town. More comprehensive guides to events across Cumbria can be found on www.golakes.co.uk and www.lake-district.gov.uk .
